Depending on your age and medical conditions and vaccination history, you may need one or more vaccinations. At Barneys we can administer recommended vaccinations, bill your insurance company, and answer all of your immunization questions. If you would like to receive a vaccination at any of our Barney’s Pharmacy locations, please download and fill out a Vaccine Administration Form and bring it to the pharmacy. We do not require an appointment!

Available Vaccines:

Influenza Vaccine (No prescription necessary): Influenza, also commonly known as the flu, is a viral infection that attacks your respiratory system. The flu season usually begins in October and can continue into May. The CDC highly recommends receiving an influenza vaccine every year.

Pneumococcal Vaccine: Pneumonia is caused by a bacterial infection that can be spread by respiratory droplets. The infection can cause fever, cough, chest pain and difficulty breathing. Vaccination is recommended for all adults over 65 years of age and those with chronic medical conditions (i.e. diabetes or COPD) or weakened immune systems.

Shingrix (Shingles) Vaccine: Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus and develops into a painful rash usually seen on one side of the body. The Shingrix vaccine is recommended to help protect adults that are 50 years of age or older.

Hepatitis A Vaccine: Hepatitis A is most commonly transmitted via contaminated food or drinking water. It is also one of the most vaccine-preventable diseases. The CDC recommends the Hepatitis A vaccine series to anyone visiting an endemic area with intermediate to high risk of infection.

Hepatitis B Vaccine – Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis B causes a flu-like illness with loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, rashes, joint pain, and jaundice. The virus stays in the liver of some people for the rest of their lives and can result in severe liver diseases, including fatal cancer. Adults who are at risk for hepatitis B infection, such as healthcare workers, and adults who have certain chronic health conditions like diabetes, renal disease, chronic liver disease, or HIV infection and adults who are at risk of sexually transmitted infections, should get three doses of HepB vaccine.

Tetanus Vaccine (Td): Tetanus is different from other vaccine-preventable diseases because it isn’t spread between people. The bacteria are usually found in soil, dust, and manure and usually enter the body through cuts or puncture wounds caused by contaminated objects. Tetanus is also called “lockjaw” because one of the most common signs of this infection is tightening of the jaw muscles. It can lead to serious health problems, including being unable to open the mouth and having trouble swallowing and breathing.

Whooping Cough (Pertussis) Vaccine: Whooping cough is a respiratory disease caused by Bordetella pertussis bacteria. Pertussis is known for uncontrollable, violent coughing which often makes it hard to breathe. After coughing fits, someone with pertussis often needs to take deep breaths, which results in a “whooping” sound. Pertussis can affect people of all ages, but can be very serious, even deadly, for babies less than a year old. Preteens and teens should get a single dose as well as adults who have never had Tdap. Pregnant women should get a Tdap during each pregnancy.
